MODEL ASSESSMENT

TYPE SELECTION
The cloud compute, network, storage and all other resources are owned by a cloud provider. Public cloud providers tend to have Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service. These offerings can significantly enhance consumers’s ability to innovate.
Private clouds are data centres owned by private companies. The data centres are operated and maintained by private companies. Private clouds can comply with stringent government and internal compliance regulations. However, private clouds can also be more expensive.
This form takes advantage of private and public clouds. Workloads can be run across environments according to infrastructure, regulatory and security requirements. This solution provides more control for highly regulated companies or those with strict internal controls.
Multi-cloud architecture takes advantage of multiple public cloud services and can also include hybrid cloud. This provides high levels of flexibility, organisational resilience, reduces a single point of failure and avoids vendor lock-in. Further, micro-services across multiple environments is also supported through technologies such as Anthos.
THREE TIER ARCHITECTURE
Cloud services are at a base level are physical hardware. This includes what traditional data centres have such as netoworking devices, compute services and storage.
Cloud services abstracts physical hardware such as compute, storage and networking. This allows multiple cloud consumers to use the same resources.
This layer containers the application that directly interacts with users. It coordinates requests from the user interface offering cloud services such as autoscaling enhancing performance and lowers costs.

Costs can be optimised through cloud features such as autoscaling, pay-as-go and utilising services such as serverless compute when and as needed.
Automated infrastructure orchestration and even manual setup of infrastructure in the cloud enables companies to focus on application development and product delivery.
Different cloud resources can autoscale. This enables compute power to be available during times of higher demand and save costs during lower demand.
Public clouds have high-performance resources and Service Level Agreements. If these SLAs are not met, some form of compensation is provided. Uptime of services are generally above 99% providing very high levels of availability.
